Mount Everest Erg Relay Challenge

The Mount Everest Erg Relay Challenge is a fun, competitive Erg (Concept2) event for relay teams of 2 or 4 rowers. Rowers of all ages can compete to be the first team to reach the summit of the world’s tallest mountain. Will you and your team mates make it to the summit, or will the Mountain be too high to conquer?

What: Each team will row a total of 8,848 metres, the height of Mount Everest. This is a race to the top, and the team reaching the 8,848 metre mark first will get to plant a flag in at the Summit!

Who: All relay teams will be mixed gender. There will be events for teams of two (one male / one female) and for teams of four (two males / two females). For each of these events, winners will be declared in three age groups (ages as of April 25, 2015). The age groups will be: under 18, 18-39, and 40+.

Rules: For relay teams of two, each team member must row a minimum of 4,000 metres and the team can decide how they want to divide up the remaining 848 metres.

When: April 25, 2015. Registration & warm-ups: 8:00 – 8:45 am. Two person race(s): 9:00 – 10:00 am. Four person race(s): 10:30 – 11:30 am.

Where: Halifax Seaport Farmer’s Market, under the awning at the north end of the building

Cost: $10 per competitor before April 22, 2015; $15 per competitor on or after April 23, 2015

Note: This event will take place unless extreme weather conditions do not allow it to.
