Adult 1st Year Rowing Program

This program is for adult rowers, 19 or older as of January 1st of the current year, who complete HRC’s Adult Learn-to-Row Class in the current season or who completed HRC's Learn-to-Row program in the previous rowing season but did not register to row with HRC after finishing your classes.

After completing HRC’s Adult Learn-to-Row class, you can continue to improve your rowing technique and boat handling skills while rowing with other club members in the Adult Rowing Program. 1st Year Rowers are able to row weekday mornings and evenings and Saturday morning, and will be provided with special coaching sessions during the week. After one month, or with permission of the Coach, 1st Year Rowers may decide to stay with the Adult Rowing Program or train with the Adult Competitive Rowing Program. Coaches will help you improve your technique and meet your rowing / fitness goals.

Rowers registered in the Adult 1st Year Rowing Program may, if they wish, compete in novice events in local regattas. There are regatta specific fees for rowers racing in any regatta.  If a 1st Year Rower wishes to race in a non-novice event, they must also pay an RCA Regatta Participant Upgrade fee.

Adult Rowing Program

This program is for adult rowers, 19 or older as of January 1st of the current year, who have completed Learn-to-Row prior to the current rowing season, who want to row for fun and fitness while continuing to develop their skills and possibly compete in regattas.

This program will provide you with the opportunity to row several times a week, with coached sessions at least twice a week.  Coaches will work with you to improve your technique and meet your fitness goals.  Less experienced adult recreational / fitness rowers will have the opportunity to row with more experienced rowers and row in various types of boats (sweep and sculling).
